Frame numbers in ZOHO

Hello!
I've read all the manuals regarding frame numbers on your web-site. And if I'm right, this function can only be implimented if, there are no transactions with an item. However, my firm already has a lot of transactions with an item, we would like to implement this functuon for.
Is there any possibility to turn on this function other way, than to delete all exicting transactions?
