Frequency of Syncing with CRM

We have used Zoho CRM for quite some time and are trying to add Zoho Campaigns but are running into several problems regarding syncing.

Syncing
First, we have set up two syncs - one for Contacts and one for Leads with Zoho CRM.

What we expect:
Whenever a contact or lead is added in Zoho CRM, it should be added to our contacts in Zoho Campaign. 

What is happening:
A sync is never triggered and the contact is not added unless we manually initiate a sync by going into "Field Mapping", clicking "Edit" and then clicking "Initiate."

Is this expected behavior?  It was our understanding that updates in Zoho CRM would sync with Zoho Campaign automatically and fairly instantaneously.

Automation Triggers
In a similar vein, we attempted to create an automation in Zoho Campaigns where the trigger is "On Entering a Segment." A user is added to the segment based upon the value of a field and this works correctly - users are getting attributed to the correct segment. However, the trigger never fires.  See the screenshot below for how we have our trigger set up.  We have found that if we set the option to "Existing and new contacts from the selected segment," it fires once, but does not fire when new contacts are added to the segment.

What we expect:  The Automation should fire when a contact is added to the segment.

What is happening: The user is added to a segment, but nothing happens.  The number of users entering the workflow remains 0.
