We have been receiving a lot of requests for creating custom workflows in Zoho Inventory. Today, we are excited to announce that this feature is finally live!

'Workflow Automaton' feature in Zoho Inventory opens up numerous possibilities for automating your business workflows and speeding up your communications across teams. You can create email alerts, notifications and even set up default functions for specific events and transactions.

Here's how it works. 

Custom workflows can be set up in three different ways in Zoho Inventory.

Email alerts - Set email alerts and notification for transactions and events that need your attention. Say, you want to keep tabs on all the sales orders with value more than $1000. With workflow automation, you can set up an email alert to yourself whenever such sales orders are created.

Field update - Set up automatic field updates based on certain events or interactions that happen in the application. Say, for all the sales orders with value more than $1000, you want the expected shipment date to be within 7 days. Now, using 'field update' you can set the expected shipment date by default for all such sales orders.

Webhooks - Push information or notifications from Zoho Inventory to other third party applications with webhooks. Say, you want to send a notification to your packaging team, whenever a sales order with value more than $1000 is created. With webhooks, you can send such notification as an SMS to your team or even push it to their shipping carrier application.

Now, whenever a sales order with value more than $1000 is created, you get a notification of such sales order, the expected shipment date is set within 7 days by default and an SMS is sent to the packaging team. Similarly, you can set custom workflows based on your requirements for four modules in Zoho Inventory. Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, Bills, and invoices.
