iOS Writer app — cursor does not stay in view as I type

When I type more text than fits the viewable area of the screen, the text does not scroll up so that the cursor/insertion point remains visible. As a result, I must stop typing and swipe up on my screen to see the current line. After I type another sentence or so, the cursor/insertion point once again falls below the viewable area and I have to repeat.

In the web version of Writer  — and indeed in any word processor  — the text automatically scrolls up as you continue to type, keeping the cursor/insertion point within view.

This is definitely an annoyance/ bug that makes Writer basically renders unusable when typing long portions of text.
