Is there a way to Create a custom field that would allow an active link?

I have images stored in google docs.  I don't want to cause zoho servers undue traffic and would like to put an "active" link in crm.  I know that I can do a custom field and input the URL.  But this link must be cut and pasted into a URL bar to display the image.  (ie.- its an inactive link.)
QUESTION:  Is there a way to create an active link in CRM. 
n.-  I know that I can move to the corporate version and store the images on zoho servers but it is cost prohibitive in the long run as I will be storing thousands of images.
