Record Category now in CRM!

Record Category now in CRM!

Hello Enterprise Support community,

I am happy to introduce Record Category in the CRM. This new feature will allow you to get an overview of the current state of the records, view their progress at a glance, and focus on those records that matter the most. Record Category allows the user to group picklist values to broad categories which can give a quick and high-level view of where the record stands without having to worry about the exact stage.

What can you achieve with Record Category?

Record Category makes is easier to get a high lever overview by allowing you to group related picklist values into the broader categories.

Below is an example of how you could use Record Category on the Lead Status field. By grouping the status values you can see where a lead stands, which enables for quicker navigation and action without having to enter the record.

With these category groupings you will be able to view, filter and act on the records based on these categories. You can have up to 5 categories per picklist field.

How to enable this feature?

To enable this feature you will go to Setup > Customization > Modules and Fields > Select the desired module. You will then select the desired layout and then edit the properties of the desired picklist field. You will finally enable the option Define Record Category and define your categories.

Record Transitions

You can also have a visual cue to indicate the nature of the category. This is similar to the Deal Stage bar in Deals. To enable this feature and instantly go between values without editing the picklist field, select the Display transition for options in the edit properties of the picklist field.

Criteria and Filters

Once the options are categorized, you can now use filters and use the categories as criteria for records.
