I am writing to propose an enhancement to our current reorder level functionality within the purchase module. Currently, when we navigate to Purchase > Vendor > Vendor Reorder Items, all vendors are displayed based on the reorder level. For instance, if the reorder level for black pens is set at 10, and our inventory has 9 pens, the system suggests ordering just 1 pen to meet the reorder level.
However, to streamline our ordering process and ensure we maintain optimal inventory levels, I suggest the addition of a "Minimum Reorder Quantity" feature. This feature would allow us to specify a minimum quantity to order whenever the stock drops below the reorder level. For example, if we set the minimum reorder quantity for pen boxes to 20 pieces, whenever the inventory falls below the reorder level, a single click would automatically suggest ordering 20 pieces, rather than calculating the exact number needed to reach the reorder level.
Implementing this feature would ensure that our orders are more efficient and aligned with our procurement policies, reducing the frequency of small orders and optimizing our inventory management.
Here’s a summary of the proposed enhancement:
1. Current Functionality: The system suggests the exact quantity needed to meet the reorder level.
2. Proposed Enhancement: Introduce a "Minimum Reorder Quantity" field.
3. Example: If the reorder level for black pens is 10 and the minimum reorder quantity is set to 20, when the inventory drops to 9, the system would suggest ordering 20 pieces instead of 1.
I believe this enhancement will improve our ordering efficiency and inventory control. I look forward to discussing this proposal further and exploring its potential implementation.
