Tip of the Week - Customize KPI Widget with Label Parameter

A KPI widget is not just for calculating a single metric. You can add more details to a KPI widget like 'Top salesperson', 'Region with the lowest sales', 'Percentage achieved against target' etc., using the label parameter.

When you type $ in the KPI value field in the Settings tab, the supported label parameters will be listed.

The following are the available parameters to customize the KPI widget.

  • ${Metric-Column-Name}.VALUE
  • ${Metric-Column-Name}.LABEL
  • ${OPERATION}
  • ‌${Grouping-Column-Name}.LABEL
  • ${PERCENTAGE}
  • ${MAXVALUE}

${Metric-Column-Name}.VALUE

This is the default parameter applied to a widget. This displays the value derived from the CALCULATION applied over the column.‌

Example:

The below widget calculates the sum of sales. This parameter will display the total sales value.

${Metric-Column-Name}.LABEL

This displays the metric column name along with the CALCULATION applied over the column.

Example:

The below widget calculates the average of the column Sales. This parameter will display the column name along with the operation applied i.e., Avg Sales as the Label.

${OPERATION}

This displays the advanced summary function applied in Show Value As field.

Example:

The below widget calculates the sum of sales across sales quarters with the advanced summary function % of Difference From to get the growth percent from previous quarter.

This parameter will display the advanced summary function applied i.e., % of Difference From as the label.

${Grouping-Column-Name}.LABEL

This displays the name of the column that groups the data or the value in the column that meets the CALCULATION applied over the column.

Example:

The widget calculates the total sales and across Salespersons (Opportunity Owner). The primary value is set to display maximum sales. This parameter will fetch the name of the salesperson with maximum sales.

This example is shown in the video below.

${PERCENTAGE}

This displays the percentage of the value. This parameter is applicable only for Full Dial.

Example:

The full dial widget calculates the sales for current month against a target (Maximum Range). This parameter will calculate the percentage of sales against target and displays the value.

${MAXVALUE}

This displays the maximum value of the full dial chart. This parameter is applicable only for Full Dial.

Example:

The full dial widget calculates the completed tasks against a target (Maximum Range). These parameters will display the count of completed tasks and the targeted value.
