Tip of the Week: Forecasting with what-if analysis

You make challenging decisions in your business everyday. These decisions, good or bad, determine the future of your business. Good decision-making often involves guess work—you guess the outcome of your actions against various external factors. Wouldn't it be easier if you had the answers before you started making changes? 


Forecasting, along with what-if analysis, helps you evaluate information and predict what might happen in the future against the changing factors. 

Set up what-if analysis with forecasting

Follow the steps here to set up a what-if analysis with forecasting.

  1. Follow the steps here to set up what-if analysis in a chart. Refer to What-If Solutions here.
  2. Set up forecasting in this chart. By default, what-if will be applied over the entire chart, including forecasted data. 


  3. Now, you can choose to apply what-if analysis over the forecasted data alone by selecting the Treat as What-if Forecasting checkbox. 


The following screen illustrates what-if analysis for forecasting data alone.
