Any further information about change the base currency?

Our company works all over the world and invoice in different currencies.

I have tried to change it, because I need to make an invoice in USD ($) but, the massage was that for changing it I have to delete the previous transactions that were made with EUROS (€)

How is that possible?

Any suggestion?
