Updating a PDF or public link to PDF Export

Viewing Writer documents from varied clients becomes problematic. When publishing a  read-only   document to the generic public (web visible) PDF is the only real stable output.

I've noticed that there is no way to create a newer version of a PDF (or other non-intrinsic type). The use case where this becomes significant is when you Publish a PDF creating a public URL, distribute that URL, then find a typo or otherwise wish to make the data more current. Uploading a new PDF does not overlay the existing version and produces a new unique public URL (appropriately) which cannot acquire the old public URL. Ideally I'd like to create a new version of the existing file or at least overlay the existing file retaining the public URL.

More ideal would be to provide a URL interface similar to what is apparently available in Creator to link to an intrinsic Writer document but have it render (or download) as a PDF. Also perfectly acceptable would be to have an ad-hoc Publish to PDF process which updated the publicly visible PDF rendering available from some distribute-able URL.

Are there any existing plans (or existing feature I've overlooked) to support any of those options or perhaps another approach I've not suggested?
