Using Lookup Field in Workflow within Recruit

Using Lookup Field in Workflow within Recruit

Hi,

I'm a new Recruit user.

We have an internal recruiting team, and also use external agencies.  I want to keep track of which candidates came from which group.

The source field indicates how a candidate got loaded on the system.  Instead of repurposing that, I created a custom module called "Agency" with a list of Agencies we use, including the internal team.

It works well, since it's private to the Admin, our team can see the agency on candidates they can access, but can't change it.

The only issue is I really want to assign the agency automatically when the candidate owner field is assigned or changed.  Workflow rules would seem to be the right mechanism, but the Agency field doesn't show up as one I can set the value for.

I'm assuming that perhaps workflow isn't capable of assigning a value to a lookup field?  Is my assumption right?  Do I need to drop my custom module and use a drop down list with hard coded values instead?  Is using the source field a good idea or a bad idea?  (I don't like to repurpose default fields if I have another option.)
