What's new in Zoho Expense - March 2022

Hello customers,

This month we've come up with new features to provide you with a better expense reporting experience. Read about the features we’ve released and learn how you can use them in your organization.

Tax Support for Oman Edition

You can now apply taxes for the expenses you record in the Oman edition of Zoho Expense. When you create an expense, you can choose whether the tax was incurred inside Oman, within GCC, or if the expense was outside the scope of tax altogether. Also, Zoho Expense provides two default tax rates for you: the Standard Rate and the Zero Rate. You can apply these default rates for your business expenses as needed.

To enable tax: Go to Admin View > Settings > Taxes

New Filter in the Advanced Search of Reports Approval

If you are unable to find a report that you had submitted for approval, you can perform an advanced search in Zoho Expense. When you do an advanced search of reports submitted for approval, you can now use the new Department filter and choose the department from which you would like to view the submitted report.

To do advanced search: Click the Search icon dropdown in the top bar > Advanced Search.

New Fuel Type for Mileage Expenses [UK Edition]

You can now reclaim VAT for mileage expenses that are incurred using electric vehicles. When you record the expense, simply choose the fuel type as 'Electric'. Also, when you add new vehicles to your mileage policy, you can associate this new fuel type for electric vehicles. This feature is also supported in the iOS app and will be available in the Android app very soon.

To create a mileage expense: Go to Expenses > Add Mileage > mark Reclaim VAT > select your Fuel Type > Save.

To add an electric vehicle: Go to Admin View > Settings > Policies > select a policy > Mileage > New Vehicle > select the Fuel Type > Save.

Android App Updates

  • If you use the India edition of Zoho Expense, whenever you create an expense, Zoho Expense will fetch the applicable taxes that are configured for your organization to help you apply the tax easier.

  • We have introduced an easy-to-use currency selection UI. When you select the currency for your expense or advance, the currencies list will be sorted alphabetically and you can use the Search bar to search for currencies faster.

  • You can now enable Advanced Autoscan from Settings.

  • With the new advanced crop option, crop any receipts that are uploaded as images more accurately.

  • When you create a new report or a trip, your default policy will be prefilled in your report creation and trip request forms.

  • You can now create your own custom statuses for the Trips in your organization. Also, you can now add custom statuses for your Submitted and Rejected records.

Try these features and let us know what you think in the comments below. For any questions, please write to support@zohoexpense.com and we will be happy to help you.
