Why if the booking chooses to Pay Later does the status not show as 'Payment Pending' rather than 'Upcoming?

Why if the booking chooses to Pay Later does the status not show as 'Payment Pending' rather than 'Upcoming?

If I make a booking for an event that has a fee but the payment option is set to be optional thus letting the person placing the booking to 'Pay Later' does the booking status not show as 'Payment Pending'? Instead, it shows as 'Upcoming'. I am unsure what the status would be if a Deposit only is paid.

The status of Payment Pending shows if the individual abandons the website at Zoho Checkout after having selected to pay for the booking in the booking form.

We are trying to work out some mechanism for distinguishing between bookings made by the admin staff in the Zoho BOOKINGS backend where there is no payment provision and those where the booking is made through the online booking form and no payment is collected (Pay Later), a deposit only is paid, the full amount is paid or the checkout is abaondoned.
