Cross Data Center Support for 1:1 Chats with External Users

Cross Data Center Support for 1:1 Chats with External Users

Hello Zoho Cliq Team,

We hope you're doing well.

We appreciate the recent enhancement that enables cross data center collaboration in external channels, which has already improved communication across distributed teams. However, we’ve noticed that this functionality currently applies only to external channels and does not extend to 1:1 chats with external users from different data centers.

🎯 Current Challenge:

  • If two users belong to different data centers (e.g., .com, .eu, .in), they cannot initiate a direct 1:1 external chat with each other.

  • This is inconsistent with the behavior within the same DC, where 1:1 external chats are supported.

  • As a result, cross-DC collaboration remains limited to external channels, leaving a major gap for quick and private 1:1 communication.

✅ Requested Enhancement:

  • Extend cross data center communication to support 1:1 external chats.

  • Ensure that user presence, message delivery, and read receipts work seamlessly across DCs, just as they do for external chats within the same DC.

🚀 Benefits:

  • Completes the cross-DC collaboration experience by supporting both channels and direct chats.

  • Enables quick, private discussions between distributed team members without forcing them into channels unnecessarily.

  • Brings Zoho Cliq in line with industry standards for global collaboration tools.

We believe this addition will make cross-DC collaboration truly seamless and significantly improve the flexibility of Zoho Cliq for globally distributed teams.

Thank you for considering this request. We’d love to know if this can be added to the roadmap.

Best regards,
Ram
