Unable to Add Asset to Work Order Due to Different Contact and Company

Hello Zoho Team,

I’m facing an issue in our environment related to asset linking in Work Orders.

Here’s the situation:
When our engineers go for field activities, they initially create the Work Order using the salesperson’s contact details. After completing the work, for example, when installing a new device — they add the corresponding asset details in FSM under the Asset module, using the correct contact person name and company name where the asset was actually installed (Customer details).

The issue arises when they try to link that asset to the original Work Order they created earlier. Since the company name and contact name in the asset record differ from those in the Work Order, they are unable to add the asset.

In such cases, what is the recommended solution?

We need to link the asset to the corresponding Work Order, as that record contains important details such as the service appointment and activity information.

Your guidance on how to handle this situation would be greatly appreciated.
