Gaps in Core HR Functionalities in Zoho People

Hello People team,

We've been using Zoho People for quite some time now and truly appreciate its flexibility and customizability. That said, I wanted to share some feedback based on our experience implementing core HR processes within the platform.

Several functionalities that are typically considered standard across most HRMS products especially as part of the employee life cycle required custom development on our end. Specifically:

  • Probation period tracking and associated confirmation workflows

  • Conversion of temporary employees to full-time roles

  • Asset allocation integrated with exit clearance processes

  • Offboarding workflows (we explored the early version of this, but found it lacked the flexibility needed)

  • Rehire functionality using the same employee email ID

  • Tracking of employee benefits such as health insurance and wellness coverage

To support these, we’ve had to build extensive workarounds using custom fields, multiple workflows, functions, email templates, and approval processes. While this speaks to the strength of Zoho People’s customization capabilities, I do believe these features represent core HR functions and would ideally be available as native modules within the product.

As these processes are integral to a streamlined and scalable HR journey, I’m curious to understand if there's a plan to introduce them as built-in features in future updates.
