Zoho Inventory should have a means of auto-generating simple numeric SKUs for any newly created item (or items if generated from the instantiation of an Item Group) based on the next available number SKU.

And while I was happy to see that item groups now allow has a SKU generator, as it is a step in the right direction, it's unfortunately unusable if you’re needing to maintain a link to legacy systems that use numeric-only SKUs -  which probably account the majority of retail POS systems.  

It’s also worth mentioning that SKU-based barcodes usually need to be numeric, and can’t include alpha characters.
