'Show diffs' and collaboration

Two questions: 1) 'Show diffs' doesn't seem to work--when I use it it highlights the entire document as if I had just added all the text, rather than only what I added in between the previous save.

2) When multiple authors are working on a doc, is it possible to see which individual has made which change?

Both of these are really essential features from my pov.
