I am starting a new business and have recorded expenses in Zoho For goods and services paid for by me prior to starting the business.  I have posted payment of those purchases from the owners equity account.  I would like to recognise those payments made by me as owners contributions.  I know i can do that by adding an equivalent amount to the bank account and posting it to owners equity but that will then show a zero balance instead of the amount of payments i have made and i also wont be actually depositing any funds to the bank account so the bank statement will not therefore reflect that deposit while the zoho books bank account will. 

I am obviously doing something wrong and hope someone can advise what that is?
