Cliq Channels - Roles for everyone
There is always something for everyone here in Cliq Channels. Having said this, let's see the various roles in a Channel.
What are roles? Why do we need roles? What is the big deal in having roles? Why can't we manage just fine without roles? etc, etc....... These are some of the various questions, you would have thought when reading the title of this post.
Well, now think of it this way. You are in charge of a project, so you create a private channel and add other members of the project. A few among the users, don't take it seriously. They add other users at will, edit channel info, one user even went as far as archiving the channel! Don't you feel the need for roles here?
You still not sure about the need for roles? Let's see another example.
You are the team admin and you create a team channel
#announcements. You advise everyone to use the channel exclusively for announcements. Well, you know how team mates are
Somehow the channel ends up being used normally by all. You are now thinking 'Why don't I have roles so that I can implement my requirements'
As you see here, roles are important in a Channel. Cliq Channels provides a total of 4 roles. They are
Super Admin,
Admin, Moderator and
Members.
1)
Super admin is the highest role, kind of like a President. The super admin has permission to do anything.
2)
Admin is next to super admin, but still has a great deal of power, just like a Minister. Admins can control the moderators and members.
3)
Moderator is appointed by the super admin/admin, and have power over the members.
4) Lastly, the users are
Members of the channel.
The term 'powers' I mentioned above correspond to
Permissions of a channel ( Watch out for the next post on Permissions). The roles can be assigned to users by ones who have permission to do so, i.e Super admin can assign admins & moderators and an Admin can assign moderators.
If you want to know more about Roles like 'whether org admin is a super admin, the default role of channel creator, ....' then click

Hope all of you found 'Roles' interesting. Keep tuned for more!!
Until next time
