Hi there, I was once proud of my Excel skills and this seems like a real stupid newbie question to ask, but I'm just stuck...

How do you bring a cell's content format back to plain numbers? 

Once I've (sometimes accidentally) pressed e.g. "set as text" or a date format there seems to be no coming back? There is a "clear formatting" option on right click, but that seems to handle only visual styles, e.g. bold.
