Hello everyone,
I’m aware of the built-in deduplication feature in Zoho CRM that allows merging records with exactly matching values for selected fields. However, I’m running into a situation where our migrated data contains multiple variations of the same company name due to case sensitivity and inconsistent formatting.
For example, we have several records such as:
- ACME
- Acme Inc
- ACME INC.
- ACME Incorporated
All of these should ideally represent and be set to the same account.
What I’m hoping to achieve is a way to identify and merge accounts with similar or closely matched spellings, rather than only exact matches, while still retaining all related records (Deals, Contacts, etc.) linked to those accounts.
The second part of this question is the best way to update the related records to reflect the updated/merged account names.
Is there a recommended approach, tool, or best practice within Zoho CRM (or via a custom function/extension) to handle this type of fuzzy matching or near-duplicate merging?
Lastly, since we also integrate Zoho CRM with Zoho Books, and the Accounts module syncs both ways, will resolving or merging duplicates in CRM have any impact on the linked Zoho Books records (e.g., Estimates, Quotes, Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, and Invoices)?
Any guidance or examples would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Jerry C.
