Migrating from Microsoft Teams (updated)

Migrating from Microsoft Teams (updated)

If you are a Microsoft Teams user, you probably heard about how Microsoft Teams has retired its free plan which makes it necessary for users to find alternative solutions, like Zoho Cliq for team communication and collaboration.

One of the key benefits of Zoho Cliq is its affordability. Unlike many other team collaboration tools, Cliq offers competitive pricing designed to meet the needs and budgets of businesses of all sizes. For instance, if you have a business with 1000 users and choose to migrate to Zoho Cliq instead of moving to the paid plan for Microsoft Teams, your business can save more than 40,000$ per year in operating costs. Not just competitive pricing, Cliq offers some exclusive features that aren't available in Microsoft Teams like customizing the modules in Cliq based on your organization's needs, an Android TV app to attend meetings, restricting user access based on roles and IP addresses, and more.

Migrating to Zoho Cliq from Microsoft Teams is a wise decision for businesses who want to continue collaborating seamlessly without incurring extra costs. With the new easy migration process, users can transfer their data from Microsoft Teams to Cliq quickly and efficiently, ensuring a smooth transition without losing any crucial information.

How to transfer your data from Microsoft Teams to Zoho Cliq

  • In Zoho Cliq, click on your profile in the top right corner and go to Admin Panel -> Import Microsoft Teams (under Data Administration).
  • The first step will give you an overview of how your data will be imported into Cliq. Go through it and click on Next.
  • The next step will take you through the prerequisite steps to import your data. It will require you to register an application in the Azure portal and also requesting API access from Microsoft.

Registering an application in the Azure Portal

  1. Enter a name and select your required supported account types and click on Register.
  2. Make sure to copy the Application ID, Client ID and Directory(tenant) ID that is generated for your app.
  3. Head over to the Certificates & secrets section (on the left of your screen) and create a new client secret. Make sure to copy the value of the secret.
  • After getting access to Microsoft's APIs, a script will be generated in the Import MS Teams section of the Admin panel. Replace the App ID, Object ID and Tenant ID in the script. You can also specify which location in your PC you want to store the data. Now copy the script and run it in the console on your PC.
  • On successful execution, your Microsoft Teams data will be saved as a ZIP file in your PC.
  • Drag and drop the file into the Import Microsoft Teams section. You can also choose to import direct messages and group chats into Cliq to resume working seamlessly.
  • Click on Import to import all your Microsoft Teams data into Cliq.
