New Feature : Limited Time Coupon

New Feature : Limited Time Coupon

Greetings from Zoho Subscriptions team.

We are happy to announce that we have released one of the most requested feature:  Limited Time Coupon

Earlier, a coupon can have  redemption type  as either  one time  or  forever . Adding to this list, here we have a new redemption type -  Limited number of times

Limited Time Coupon is a coupon which will be applied to a subscription only for a predefined number of times and once the specified limit reaches, it will be automatically removed from the subscription.  The number of times this coupon has to be applied to a subscription should be entered at the time of creation of the coupon.

Let us look into this with some scenarios.

Coupon Name : Early Bird Coupon.
Coupon Code  : EB3OFF
Discount : 20%
Redemption Type : Limited Number Of Times
Number Of Times : 3

List Of Plans :

Plan 1 :
Plan Name : Economy Plan (Monthly)
Price          : 100 USD

Plan 2 :
Plan Name   : Trial Plan (Monthly)
Price            : 100 USD
Trial Days    : 10 days

Scenario One  :  (Live subscription Creation with coupon)

Assume a subscription with  Economy Plan  being created  on 30th June, 2017  having the coupon  Early Bird  associated with it.
An invoice will be generated immediately on  the same date  for an amount of  80 USD  (20% discount gets applied).

On First Renewal ( 30th July, 2017 ),    Invoice Amount :  80 USD . ( 20% discount gets applied )
On Second Renewal ( 30th August, 2017 ), Invoice Amount :  80 USD  ( 20% discount gets applied )
From third Renewal (i.e., on  30th September, 2017 ) invoice amount will be  100 USD . As the coupon has been already been applied 3 times for the subscription s invoices, it  would have been removed.

Scenario Two  :  (Trial subscription Creation with coupon)

Assume a subscription with  Trail  Plan  being created  on 30th June, 2017  having the coupon  Early Bird  associated with it.   Once the trial gets  over, an  invoice will be generated on 10th July, 2017  for an amount of   80 USD   (20% discount gets applied).

On First Renewal ( 10th August, 2017 ),    Invoice Amount :  80 USD . ( 20% discount gets applied )
On Second Renewal ( 10th September, 2017 ), Invoice Amount :  80 USD  ( 20% discount gets applied )
From third Renewal (i.e., on  10th October, 2017 ) invoice amount will be  100 USD . As the coupon has been already been applied 3 times for the subscription s invoices, it  would have been removed.

(P.S : When the  Early Bird coupon is associated with a  Future subscription, the workflow will be similar to the scenario 2 mentioned above)

Scenario Three  :  (Back dated subscription Creation with coupon)

If the subscription is created with start date as a Backdated date, the Early Bird coupon will be applied for the invoices generated from next renewals. It will also have the same workflow as first two scenarios.

Scenario Four  :  (Coupon being applied to existing subscription)

If the  Early Bird  coupon is associated to an existing subscription (with Economy Plan), the coupon will be applied to the invoice generated from the next renewal of the subscription. It will continue to apply till the allowed number of times reaches.

Scenario Five  :  (Subscription Upgrade/Downgrade)

When any subscription having the  Early Bird  Coupon is upgraded/downgraded, an invoice will be generated with the coupon being applied to it. (It will be considered as a redemption for a subscription).

So to  summarize, the  limited number of times  coupon will be applied to all the invoices created(either on Renewal/Upgrade/Downgrade) for the subscription to which it was associated. P.S: When you manually  add a charge  to the subscription, this coupon won’t be applied.
