"unlimited" records

Hi!
(Not sure to which forum this question belongs :-) )

I'd like to know if "unlimited records" really means "unlimited" or is there a very high limit or a maximum number of attributes or columns I could create or do you just slow down my performance?

and I'd like to know if there is a performance impact regarding the number of records I create?

So many questions :-) I hope you can shed some light on this
