Deprecating Support for Authtokens in Zoho Projects

Dear Users,

Authtokens and OAuth are currently used to authorize third-party applications to access Zoho Projects.

However, going forward we will not be supporting authtokens. This means that effective 1st December, 2020, you will no longer be able to generate new authtokens. Existing authtokens will continue to work for a while. However, we recommend switching to Zoho OAuth as soon as possible.

Rest assured that while Zoho OAuth Tokens are similar to authtokens, they provide better security and offer more control. Zoho OAuth generates two tokens, Refresh and Access tokens. Access tokens are used to authenticate your apps on Zoho Projects and expire after an hour. Refresh tokens allow you to generate new access tokens. Refreshing access tokens increases security.

While this may require you to make changes to your existing API implementation, we advise you to shift to Zoho OAuth to improve security.
