Embedding Widget in a custom layout

Embedding Widget in a custom layout

I am currently trying to find a way to embed or display a widget in a canvas custom layout. Does anyone know of a way to embed a widget or embed a page with the widget on it in the layout? It doesn't look like i can use iframes on the custom layout or record template unless there is some secret way I'm not seeing
