Form Notification Timing?

Form Notification Timing?

When a form is completed and a notification email is asked for, is the notification sent in real-time or is it sent in a batch or loop .. e,g, like every 5 mins, etc.

I'm curious to know whether the system is setup to instantly send the notification or whether it holds it and sends every X mins as a "batch".
