How does the currency field work?

How does the currency field work?

I have this layout on Zoho Projects where i created a Flow to populate some fields from my CRM into the project. 

All fields are working great, but i encountered some difficuties with the Currency field... It apparently autoformats values inputed, so if i enter $1 in the field, it formats to $100. I can't enter values above $1000, if i do the field changes to 0.

Is this intended? How exactly does this field work and is there a way to use it like a regular currency field?
