Importing contacts into Bigin does not connect to company

I imported companies first. Added the same company name to the company name field in my contacts csv file. When I import, there are no company assignments. It's behaving as if company name might not be the match field. So do I need to export companies to get the company ID and add it to my contacts list. That will be a pain. I hope not. Or is this a bug and it's supposed to make a match on the Company Name?
