Proxy authentication for Docs Desktop

Proxy authentication for Docs Desktop

My valid  proxy authentication username, when at works, requires I specify the authenticating domain, since my laptop and tablet are not joined  to the domain so that I can work from home without a VPN or cached credentials.

I can either do this with "domain\user.name" or " user.name@domain.full.name", either of which is not allowed in Docs Desktop (Windows, in this case, but I had the same issue in Linux)

The problem is that these are  the only valid user names I can give, and anything less will fail to authenticate with the corporate proxy.

The only other possibility I've seen work is some GUIs are programmed with a separate "domain" field to specify the authenticating server. Presumably, they combine the domain and user name internally when submitting to the Socks server.

If this is http authentication only then, clearly, that isn't going to work either. It's usually considered too insecure in a corporate environment. Since it doesn't offer a choice of proxy type, I assume it's auto-negotiating, but I know only SOCKS, SOCKS4, or SOCKS5 will ever succeed.
