Zoho,
I'm really happy to see the recent updates to the Sales Order statuses and indicators. I have some feedback that I think will help make the UI even more clear and useful.
First, on the main Sales Order page (/#app/salesorders):
In addition to the new "Closed" status and green indicator button for packages that have been shipped, I recommend the following:
- Provide a full green indicator status for invoices that have been paid. This is would act as final status for a fully paid invoice.
- Provide a half green, or perhaps yellow, indicator for invoices that have been partially paid.
- Provide a green indicator for packages that have been fully packed. This would be supplemental to the half blue indicator for packages that have been partially packed.
By implementing green indicators for the completed/final phase of all sales order components (invoices, packages, shipments), together with the newly implemented green Closed status, the UI will allow users to quickly identify the status of sales orders. For orders that have completed all phases of invoicing, packing, and delivering (or some combination thereof) and have been Closed, seeing green running across the sales order line item will make it easy to confirm the order is truly closed/finalized.
Second, on the individual sales order page (app#/salesorders/000000000000000000)
In the Status indicator section, consider the following statuses:
- Invoice:
- Drafted
- Sent
- Partially Paid
- Fully Paid
- Shipment
- Partially Packed
- Fully Packed
- Shipped
- Delivered
=====
As it stands now, you're UI is moving in a good direction but there still remains some lack of clarity. For example, as things are now an invoice has a singular state (full blue button on the main Sales Order listing page / green "Invoiced" in the Status section of the individual sales order page) regardless of the actual state of the invoice (Draft, Sent, Partially Paid, Fully Paid).
With some further minor refinements the system will be much more thorough in its presentation of sales order statuses, and all the more useful. And, as a side note, if you ever invite your users to preview beta versions of your applications, I would be more than happy to participate and provide feedback.
Keep up the great work!
Cheers,
Chris
