I recently made a request to creator support and received a response indicating that I may need to use a recursive function. I am unfamiliar with this function and would greatly apreciate further assistance. I am willing to pay for support after a breif consultation via phone.

Serial number creation on sub form Request Information : On my Sales Order Entry form I have a sub form - "Unit Items" which is used to enter items from a customer's purchase order. One of the fields in the sub form is quantity. Obviously a customer might order multiple of the same item, hence the quantity field. I'd like to create a way to assign a serial number to each of the items entered in the sub form for each of the quantities listed. In other words, If I enter a line item ABC on sub form "Unit Items" with a quantity of 10, I'd like to have a view in which item ABC is listed ten times. Each of the lines should have a different serial number associated with it. I have enabled support access. Please contact me with any questions at 262-221-8299.

J Response: Hello Jonathan, I'm sorry for not responding earlier, unfortunately Zoho Creator/Deluge does not allow looped actions such as insert tasks to be performed on an arbitrary numeric input such as an quantity. Theoretically it should be possible to workaround this limitation using (fairly complex) scripting, by using a recursive function to insert the entries. We suggest you look for a community developer to assist you. Also be advised that generating sequential serial numbers while also guarding against duplicates and possible concurrent submissions would be an additional problem to solve and we can't guarantee such an implementation will always work reliably on the system.
