Split Tasks Question for Zoho

Hello,

I am hoping Zoho can give me some advice on the best way to accomplish something in Zoho Projects. Please see attachment. In Microsoft Project it is possible to split a task into different time periods. This need is common in the construction industry.

As far as I can see the closest approximation of being able to split a task in Zoho Projects is to create a recurring task. The challenge with using recurring tasks instead of splits is we don't know in advance how a task needs to be split, so using recurring tasks doesn't really work. Rather, we need to initially create a task for say 160 hours, and then split the task later on as/if needed.

As an example, let's say we need to drywall 10 rooms. The contractor may have us drywall them all at once, or they may ask us to drywall 3 and then come back four weeks later and drywall the other 7. The possibilities are endless. So being able to split a task allows us to estimate the task, and then split it into meaningful chunks later as needed.

How would you advise I handle this in Zoho Projects? I am looking for suggestions.
