Stock on hand not showing on backorders

I have a sales order which has items on it requiring backorder.

Some of those items have had a stock adjustment completed on them, however when I generate a backorder it is not taking the adjustment into consideration.

For example

The sales order has 2 red t-shirts on it.

When the sales order was generated we were showing as having no red t-shirts in stock (Stock on hand = 0)

A red t-shirt was located and a stock adjustment was completed to reflect this (Stock on hand = 1)

When generating a backorder I would expect this newly adjust stock to be reflected and for the backorder to only show that 1 red t-shirt was now needed for ordering however the backorder is showing as - Quantity Ordered 2 | Stock on hand 0 | Backorder Quantity 2

Can anyone help
