What's New – September 2020

Hello everyone,

We spent September working on a few of under-the-hood improvements and squashing some bugs along the way. We've also rolled out a new feature to make your event microsites more versatile.

So here are the latest feature updates from Backstage.

Page-level permissions and smart buttons that you can customize

Increase the security and exclusivity of your event microsite by setting up visibility level permission for your pages. When you do this you can control who can access a specific page or only allow certain members to view the content in the event microsite. For instance, you can set up the visibility of the gallery or discussion channels by enabling them only for people who have purchased tickets from a particular ticket class.

You can set up your pages with the Public option to let anyone on the internet view the page or use the Logged-in visitors option to restrict it to those who sign into their account. Otherwise, you can just allow ticket holders to access a certain page.

Additionally, if you hide a page on the event microsite, all the relating buttons that lead a user to that page will also be hidden from everywhere on the microsite. For example, let's say you've hidden the Agenda page from all non-logged-in users. These visitors will not be able to see the View Agenda button on the Home page.

You can add more buttons if you need to replace any hidden ones or add extra options for users. Do this by clicking the Settings icon near any button element and selecting the Add button option. Also, you have the ability to modify the design of the button to suit your theme. If you have multiple buttons grouped together, you can modify the design for all of them at once or edit them individually as well if needed.

To set page-level permissions: Go to Microsite Builder > Design > Pages

To design and manage buttons: Go to Microsite Builder > Design

OTHER UPDATES:

  • You can now set the visibility for each ticket class. Display them at all times, keep them hidden until a specific date, or automatically hide them based on a specific ticket class status.
  • Now the event organizer will be notified by email when a cancellation or refund request for a ticket is initiated.
  • Add tags to your event in the Event Details tab in the Microsite Builder. Use keywords and phrases that describe your event. Event tags enable better search results when anyone looks up your event on Backstage.
  • Add tags for each session in the Agenda tab in the Microsite Builder. Use keywords and phrases that describe your session. Session tags help attendees filter sessions in the event microsite.
  • Attendees can now view all event details in their time zone when using the attendee app. The time zone converter on the Home screen for an event will change all the dates and times (including the sessions) according to the time zone that is selected. This is available in both the iOS and Android versions of the attendee app.
  • As we've received a lot of requests to extend Backstage OnAir's introductory offer period, we've now made it available for one more month. You can use Backstage OnAir free of charge for all virtual events hosted on or before Oct 31, 2020.

That's all we have for September. We'll be back next month with more updates. Comment below with your thoughts. If you have any other product-related questions, send us an email to support@zohobackstage.com. We would love to help!

Happy organizing!
