Zoho CRM Custom Fields and the API not showing - Using make.com etc

Hi,

I've successfully connected fillout.com (a form tool) with Zoho CRM using make.com and can insert leads into the default standard fields.

However, my custom fields in leads aren't showing up on make.com.

Upon research, I found "external fields" that do appear in make.com. The problem is that that these fields aren't visible in Zoho CRM—it says they're external fields only. The external field appears to be limited to a single text box type, with no options for dropdowns, etc.

I have about 100 custom fields of various types in leads, storing industry-specific data.

How can I make custom fields in Zoho visible for leads via the API Webhooks?

My next challenge is file handling. I have file(s) in the Fillout.com form that I want to add to the Zoho CRM file upload upon submission. Is this possible and what is the best approach?

I know this isn't a make.com group, so my questions are: How do non-external custom fields appear in the API, and why aren't custom external fields showing up in CRM leads like regular fields?

Before anyone asks why i am not using Zoho Forms - there is a business reason which for now i dont want to change. However, does not matter really - as the problem is using the Zoho API to insert data into CRM via what ever method i need.
