This is something I have asked repeatedly. I'll ask once again.
Suppose
that you work in France. Next month you have a trip to Guatemala. You
call a contact there, close a meeting, record that meeting in CRM. On
the phone, your contact said: "meet me at my office next day 12 at 11
am". This implies Guatemala time. But the user, remember, is in France.
What the user can't do in CRM: new meeting, select day 12 11 am, and set the timezone to Guatemala.
What Zoho and other users have told us to do:
- The user could temporarily change their timezone to Guatemala, save the record and change it back.
- The
user could open a timezone converter on the side, convert Guatemala
time to France, and set the meeting to the French equivalent to what the
Guatemalan said.
- We could develop a whole automation to calculate timezone conversions.
The
first two options are ugly, time-consuming workarounds. Particularly if
I have users doing this several times a day, in different projects,
working with one timezone in the morning and another in the afternoon.
The
third option is what we did: develop an unholy nightmare of functions
with a ton of complications and side effects. Exhausting and not
recommended.
Every calendar software I know of just lets you change the timezone of an event if you want.
Is there any chance that Zoho will address this shortcoming anytime soon?
Thanks.
