As we roll into 2025, we'd like to pay tribute to all the milestones we hit in 2024! From releasing out new features that streamlined your workflows to updates that made payroll management smoother, we’ve had a prolific year—all while keeping you, our valued users, at the heart of our work.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the important updates:

Major Updates

In 2024, we expanded Zoho Payroll’s capabilities across the US, making significant progress in payroll management and compliance. Here's what’s new:

  • Single-state support for all 50 US states
  • Automated tax payments and filings
  • Digital collection of Form W-4 from employees

New Modules

This year, two new modules joined the Zoho Payroll ecosystem:

  • Leave and Attendance (India 🇮🇳): Simplify leave and attendance tracking with centralized management tools that ensure compliance with labor laws and streamline employee records.  Read Help Document



Documents Hub

  • Documents (US 🇺🇸) (Early Access): A dedicated hub to organize and manage employee and company documents efficiently.


New Features

This year, we introduced several exciting features to enhance payroll efficiency:

For India 🇮🇳
  • Custom Fields for Loan Module: Enhance the Loans module by adding additional details with custom fields. If the default options in Zoho Payroll don’t meet your requirements, you can easily create custom fields. To set this up, navigate to Settings > Preferences > Loans, and choose Custom Field.


For UAE 🇦🇪

  • Resettlement Payroll (Early Access): In some cases, employees may be exited from their positions without receiving their due compensation. With the Resettlement Payroll feature in Zoho Payroll, you can efficiently process payroll for exited employees who were not accurately compensated at the time of exit. Read Help Document
  • Rehire Employees: Simplified the process of rehiring employees who exited within the past year.


  • Expiring Documents Reminder: Automatic notifications to stay ahead of document renewal deadlines.
For India 🇮🇳 and UAE 🇦🇪
  • Flexible Earnings Calculation: Customize calculations based on CTC, gross salary, or custom formulas.


  • Skip Payroll: If there are no eligible employees in a payroll cycle, you can now choose to skip that payroll.

For US 🇺🇸

  • Off-Cycle Payroll (Early Access): Issue payments outside regular pay schedules for corrections or non-regular earnings. Specifying a pay period is mandatory and must align with your organization's pay frequency (weekly, biweekly, monthly, semi-monthly, or quarterly). Read Help Document.
  • Bonus Payroll (Early Access): Process bonus payments without specifying a pay period. Read Help Document
  • Quarterly Pay Schedule: Effortlessly process payroll once every three months.


New Integrations with Zoho Payroll

Zoho Payroll integrated with more tools this year to help you manage payroll seamlessly:

Zoho Analytics Integration (India 🇮🇳): By integrating Zoho Analytics with Zoho Payroll, you can harness advanced analytical tools to visualize and interpret your payroll data. This powerful integration enables you to make more informed decisions and plan strategically. Read Help Document

Zoho Expense Integration (US 🇺🇸): This integration allows you to:
  • Process business expense reimbursements for employees
  • Include salary payments in the reimbursement process



New Reports Added This Year

We introduced several new reports to streamline payroll management:

  • Gratuity Liability Report by Day (UAE 🇦🇪): Generate detailed gratuity liability reports for any date you choose. This feature provides essential insights, including the latest basic pay, years in service, and gratuity amounts for exited employees.  Read Help Document
  • Annual CTC Projection (India 🇮🇳): Better visibility into annual compensation for budgeting.


Updates in the Employee Portal

Here are the latest updates:

  • Group reimbursements by filter (India 🇮🇳): With the new Group By filter on the Reimbursement Claims page, employees can now organize claims by Reimbursement Type or Bill Date. This enhancement helps employees quickly locate and manage specific claims.
  • Pre-tax deductions and benefits: Employees can now view these in their salary structure. (India 🇮🇳 and UAE 🇦🇪)
  • Form W-2 via email: Employees can now opt in to receive this form by the end of every tax year. (US 🇺🇸)

Enhancements to Mobile Apps

Payroll on the go got better for employees. Here are the enhancements made to the Zoho Payroll mobile apps:
  • Subordinates List (India 🇮🇳): Reporting Managers can now view a list of their direct and indirect subordinates.
  • Subordinates Details (India 🇮🇳): Reporting Managers can access detailed information about their subordinates, including Profile Information, Salary Structure, Loan Information, and Attendance details.
  • Loan Approvals (India 🇮🇳): You can now set up an approval process for the Loans module. Once the approval flow is configured, employees must submit each loan to the assigned approver as a request.
