Customization Issues

I'm getting frustrated that the section for "State" under customization-->fields is not able to be edited. This really should be a drop-down option for states in the United States. I find it hard to believe that I would be your only US customer who would want or use this... Right now candidates are able to pick how they want to format the state: some use the 2 letter abbreviation while others write out the name. It's leading to sorting issues and it doesn't look clean.
