Director's Loan Account

Director's Loan Account

I am trying to set up a Director's Loan Account, which our ex-accountant used to use in our books, but I am having trouble figuring out how to balance it.

Could someone please give an example of how one would manage a Director's Loan Account, such as:

1. Create the account in the Chart of Account - under which category?
2. Record an entry whereafter the company owes the director money. In my case this would be something like an unpaid salary.
3. Record an entry for the director withdrawing the money owed.

I hope this makes sense. I found this thread, but this seems to only be for loaning money TO an employee from the company, not vice versa.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
