I agree the issue of not being able to post to sub-accounts do hinder the application. Accounting is driven by the "General Ledger" The General Ledger is driven by sub-accounts. An example of this would be the General Ledger account of "Utilities." The amounts that drives the total for the General Ledger account of "Utilities" would be postings to the sub-accounts of; electricity expenses, water expenses, etc., and those totals would combine to create the total for the General Ledger account of "Utilities."
Another feature that would be of benefit to the application and would take it to the next level would be the capability for numbering of the Charts of Accounts, ie.,
1000s: are assets
2000s: Liabilities
3000s: Equity
4000s: Income
5000s: Cost of Sales
6000s, 7000s: Other operating expenses
8000s: Other income
9000s: Other expenses
Again, these are basic accounting (AICPA) principles and practices, and makes the accounting process much more efficient for reporting, budgeting, etc.,
From a technical perspective, it would be great to have split entry capability; one invoice could be charged across multiple accounts with one entry, if it needed to be.
Finally, a Payroll module would be icing on the cake!
Zbooks has a lot of great capabilities, but If you are a growing company, and is looking for an accounting application that can grow with you, by not having these features automatically eliminates Zbooks, even in the 10 to 20 employee range.
Please consider this as sincere constructive input from a previous accounting professional, and a Zbooks user.
Thanks.
