Upgrade from MAIL ONLY to WORKPLACE

Hi, I would like to ask what happens with previous yearly bought subscribe when upgrade from "MAIL ONLY" to "WORKPLACE". Is the price difference compensated somehow? Or maybe the remaining part (and money) of previous tier is lost.
