Using Zoho for Quarterly Forecasts and Tracking Sales

Hi,

I'm trying to set up Zoho to be useful for our company, and am finding it exceedingly difficult. We sell inexpensive products directly to a large number of accounts. All I want to do is to be able to make quarterly sales estimates, then track how we are meeting our goals for each account. Each sale is relatively small, so it makes no sense to create hundreds of potentials for every possible sale.

I've considered making one potential for each account per quarter, representing our estimate of sales for that account, but then the question becomes how can we track what our actual sales are, and compare that to our estimates? In the forecasting module, the achieved revenue is calculated solely based on the stage of the potentials, so the only way to check our results vs the forecast is to constantly update the potential stage based on how many sales we've actually made that quarter. I can't figure out how to just create a report that compares the account forecast (say Q1 potential) vs the actual sales for the quarter (as summed from the sales order module). Even using Zoho Reports, I can't find a way to do it.

Am I being dense? Is there a better way to use Zoho CRM to allow such forecasting?

Thanks!
