What's New in Zoho POS - October 2025

Process returns for refunds, exchanges, or offer store credit

Returns and exchanges can help businesses build trust, boost sales, improve loyalty, and enhance customer lifetime value. They can also help businesses get valuable feedback about the product's quality, sizing, and customer preferences.

In Zoho POS, we now support returns and exchanges, allowing your customers to return products for an exchange, a refund, or store credit (Credit Note), helping you build customer confidence and deliver a better post-purchase experience.

Seamlessly collect payments with the Everyware payment integration

We have now added the Everyware third-party payment integration to Zoho POS. Everyware is a flexible payment and customer engagement platform that lets businesses accept payments. If you have an Everyware merchant account, you can use your merchant name and API key to connect your Everyware payment terminal to Zoho POS.

Using weighted average costing (WAC) for inventory valuation

In addition to First In, First Out (FIFO), we have now added weighted average costing (WAC) to the inventory valuation method. Weighted average costing is a common approach that can be used in accounting to value inventory and determine the cost of goods sold (COGS) and inventory asset value.

This approach of inventory valuation is suitable for businesses that deal with large volumes of identical or similar items, where it’s difficult or unnecessary to track each item’s specific cost. This method helps businesses smooth out price fluctuations, ensure stable profit margins, and simplify financial reporting. This method also aligns with both IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and US GAAP (General Accepted Accounting Principles) standards, making it a compliant and practical choice for accurate inventory management and decision-making.

Once you select weighted average costing as the inventory valuation method for an item, the inventory asset value (total worth of all goods held in stock) is automatically calculated and updated with each purchase or sale. This value can be monitored in the Inventory Valuation Summary report and exported if required for financial reporting purposes.

Create customized registers with register profiles

You can now fully customize each of your registers to suit different business requirements. This can be done using the Register Profiles option, which allows you to create profiles with dedicated POS and payment preferences and assign them to specific registers. Once mapped, a register can only perform actions permitted by its assigned profile.
Idea
Scenario 1: imagine you run a three-story supermarket. The ground floor is dedicated to returns and refunds; the first floor only accepts cash payments, and the second floor supports multiple payment modes including cash, cards, and UPI. Using Register Profiles, you can create three distinct profiles with specific POS and payment preferences for each floor and map them to their respective registers.

Scenario 2: Imagine you run a grocery store business with three different locations, each operating slightly differently based on its available payment options and customer preferences. Location 1 accepts cash, card, and UPI payments, as most customers in that area prefer these methods. This makes checkout faster and simpler. Location 2 currently has a faulty card payment terminal, so it can't accept card payments. Location 3, on the other hand, accepts every payment mode except credit sales, since most customers in this region tend to default. Using Register Profiles, you can create three distinct profiles with specific POS and payment preferences for each branch and map them to their respective registers.
This flexibility helps you maintain control while ensuring your registers operate according to your exact business needs.
