Cannot create contact@domain.com. "The data you have entered already exists"

Cannot create contact@domain.com. "The data you have entered already exists"

I'm trying to create a group for contact@domain.com but I'm getting the error "The data you have entered already exists". I have checked groups and users and none have that email address. I also sent an email to the address but it bounced.

Please help?
