Change font color when a field has a value

Hello. I am using Creator to maintain an editorial calendar. We'd like to be able to see at a glance when a report has been published by making the text color change if the "published" field has a value in it. How would I script that? Would I use "on user input" or "on update", and what variables would I include?

I am not a programmer so I greatly appreciate your help.
