Google Docs allows users to send themselves a copy of the email when a document is shared; this is helpful because you know the message went out.

Also, Google Docs sends the email with the user's email address as the "from" address, allowing the recipient to reply. Right now, there's no easy way to notify someone that you received their invitation to share a document.
