How can I download my mail on my phone?

Hi,

I have no problem accessing my account on my computer (using thunderbird), but I can't get it to work on my phone. I tried both pop and imap, but I get a "server connection failed" message.
Yahoo mail works on that phone (an old motorola "motogo"), though gmail has the same problem as zoho mail.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
